This was the beginning of what has been Mikes best friendship over the past several decades. Even now that they are well into their seventies they are still in contact and are important parts of each other's lives. They have experienced a lot together from graduating college all the way up until becoming grandparents.

Coming home on the from Brooklyn College for winter break, Mike was exhausted. He basically crawled aboard the bus and walked as slow as a snail searching for the nearest open seat. When he finally found one he threw himself down into it. He could not wait to get home, see his family and then jump in his own bed for the first time in what seemed like forever. He had brought a few books with him for the ride, but his current state of exhaustion would not allow him even come close to concentrating. He leaned back in his seat and stared up at the ceiling and to his surprise he saw out of the corner of my eye a kid who he believed was in one of his classes at school. Suddenly revitalized, and being the very social person that he is, he got up out of his seat and plopped down right next to him.

“Hey I’m Mike, I think I recognize you from one of my classes. Do you go to BC?” He said, eager to learn if a new friendship was in the making.

“Yes actually, I believe I recognize you too. I’m Murray.” Said fellow college student. The two talked for the remainder of the train ride about where they both went to high school, and about how they surprisingly only lived a few blocks from each other. Mike never knew this because throughout a majority of his high school years he lived at his aunt’s house which was about a half-hour from where his parents lived. This was a result of his family moving during his freshman year, and his desire to not change schools or leave his friends.

The two got off the bus together and after continuing the conversation at the bus stop for a while about how they liked school and their classes, they exchanged addresses and phone numbers, so they could write each other or talk over the phone. They both walked away from each other filled with excitement about the friendship that they just made, as well as desire to see each other again. Mike suddenly remembered that he was still exhausted, and his posture changed dramatically to the point where he was slouched almost all the way over, and could hardly keep his eyes open. As he finally made it back to his house, said hello to his family, and collapsed as if he had just been shot into his bed, he knew that this was the beginning of a great friendship.
