I interviewed my mom in our living room. This memory is about when my mom found out she was pregnant with me. When my mom found out she was shocked. My mom had been recovering from her illness for the past two years, and was recommended to not have any more children. My mom is diabetic and had Graves’ disease. She was going to the doctors to get her annual checkup because she was ordered to see what her results were after her last surgery and a year in the hospital.

“Hi, I’m here to see Dr. Michaels for my checkup” said Kim to the front desk clerk. “Sure, he will be with you in one moment” said the clerk. “Mrs. McBride” yells Dr. Michaels from the door. Kim pops up out of the seat and her husband Keith follows her. “Follow me to the room” said Dr. Michaels.

Dr. Michaels gives Kim this look like he is nervous to tell Kim what her test results are. “Mrs. McBride after all the test we have done on you, you are doing better than before, and you are also expecting again”, said Dr. Michaels.

Kim’s eyes stretched at what she heard. She looks at Keith and she gives him this look like this is a joke right.

“Although this is a going to be a difficult pregnancy and could lead to death, if you follow our orders everything will be just fine”, said Dr. Michaels. Keith was taken back because he thought they were coming to get Kim’s test results, he had no idea that they would get news that they were expecting

Even though Kim was expecting again, she was a bit terrified and she did not want to hear Dr. Michael say anything about death.

“I just cannot believe this, I was told I cannot have any more kids” said Kim in disbelief. Kim sat there in the room with Keith just staring at the white walls. Keith started tearing up and grabbed Kim’s hands and hugged her tight. Kim started to cry too.

“Everything is going to be alright, I’m going to be with you through every step of the way”, said Keith.

“Thank you, I’m just really scared honey”, said Kim with tears coming down her face. Kim was nervous because of the thought of possibly losing her baby or even her dying.

“Mrs. McBride, I can tell you that after all the surgeries you had you will be just fine as long as you keep coming to the doctors” said Dr. Michaels. “Thank you so much Dr. Michaels for everything, I will see you next week”, said Kim. Kim grabbed her coat and purse, rushed out of the building, and into the car. Kim was so overwhelmed, she had never been sick while being pregnant, so to hear this news had her mind all over the place.

Keith ran after Kim to the car and he hugged her while she cried again in the car for fifteen minutes. “Honey, I really want you to stop crying and know that everything will be just fine. Don’t stress yourself or the baby out” said Keith. “You’re right, and thank you for comforting me”, said Kim. Once Kim got herself together, Keith took Kim home, so she could share the news with their other two kids.
