This memory stood out to Brian since he has a passion for traveling. This night in Northern Ireland showed him a new culture, and opened his eyes to the idea that places around the world have similarities to home, such as the beach and bars, but that it is a totally difference experience than you get anywhere else. He distinctly remembers this night because of how picture perfect the country was from his first moment there, and it has sparked him to plan for more trips such as this once to get exposure to the world around him.

Brian wiped away the fogged up window of the rickety bus he and his friends were in and peered out the window. After a long flight that landed in Dublin and a bus ride across the Republic's boarder, he was finally in Northern Ireland. He and his friends had been planning this trip for a while, and it hadn't hit him until he saw the rolling, green hills that the countryside was known for. "Can you believe we're actually here?!" Brian said to his friends, who all cracked huge grins and nodded as they passed the small cottages and village pubs they had been waiting to see for months now. Brian and his friends would be spending the first half of their two week trip in the small village of Ballycastle which is found on the very tip of Northern Ireland, and then headed to the city of Belfast - this way they could experience the quaint traditional towns and vibrant city life that the country had to offer. As they kept driving, they arrived at their home for the next week, and to their surprise - it was on the beach. But it was different than the beaches they knew, since just across the way they could see the tip of Scotland. He thought and laughed to himself "That's not something you find at the Jersey beaches".

After a quick visit to the beach, and a long trek back up the hill to their place, Brian's friend Andrew mentioned this local pub he saw during their ride into town. "I'm pretty sure it said O'Connors. Or O'Henry? O' something. But I think we should head into town and give it a try. I've been wanting a Guinness from the moment we booked our flights." They agreed to push through the jet leg and head out into town. A Friday night at a pub in Northern Ireland was just as Brian had imagined. Identical to a scene from a film, Brian pushed open the heavy, wooden door and walked into a dimly lit pub with cheers of the locals erupting around the football game on the television. Clinging of pints were heard all around, and in the corner sat a small group of older men belting out traditional irish music. After snagging a table, Brian made his way through the crowds and got to the bar to grab drinks for the table, "May I have 4 Guinness?", asked Brian. "Mates, we've got an American on our hands!", the man next to him at the bar yelled. "Is this yer' first time in Ir-land?" he asked. Brian nodded and before he could get anything else out the man raises his nearly empty beer, nudges Brian and signals to his table "ROUNDS ON ME, MEN!". That night, Brian and his friends didn't leave arrive home until 3AM, and even though they were exhausted, it was a night they will never forget.
