Terry was 13 and this is the first time she has left Pennsylvania. She took all her money, about $400, and snuck out the house to meet up with strangers she had met online six months prior. She had admired BTS for so long and it seemed that this risk was her only chance to see them. Afterwards, her parents placed a curfew and momentarily stopped giving her money.

As she walked to the train stop, she thought, “maybe this is a bad idea. Mom would be disappointed.” She met Kendra and her mother a couple stops later. Their car was really dirty and the situation looked sketchy. But it all seemed fine after their toddler started her tantrum. The trip seemed like forever and Kendra was a lot more awkward than she expected, since online, she just seemed more enthusiastic and outgoing. Differently, her mother kept asking questions and laughing at the answers Terry would give.

Eventually, Terry arrived. She called her mom, “I’m in New York with my friends.” Despite sneaking out the house and going two states away, her mother didn’t seem too angry then, unaware that Terry was with people she just met. Regardless, Terry couldn’t wait to see BTS perform tomorrow. She spent six months talking to Kendra using the Kpop fan website, planning and saving money for the concert. After they had selected a hotel, Terry was quite disappointed with her room. She didn’t want to share a bed with Kendra. She looked really dirty so all night, Terry was just afraid of getting lice.

The following day, Terry realized, she went to the wrong state, so they had to take a train to New Jersey. Terry kept freaking out, scared she would miss her opportunity. But luckily, they made it there with time to spare. The line was long and people were geeking out about Kpop stuff. They brought light sticks, posters, and were screaming at the top of their lungs. Overall, Terry really enjoyed the concert and there were a lot of groups that performed. She was really impressed by BTS’ “Save Me” and BTOB’s ballads because the dancing was very dreamy and the vocals were able to cover high and low notes quickly, easily marking itself as one of the best moments of her life.
