To every other person, today was no different than any other day. To Julia, however, today was filled with nothing but anticipation and excitement! This was the day she was going to attend her very first Flyers game. She was ten at the time and her father had surprised her with this before she went to school. Julia and her father were very close and their love for the flyers only intensified their bond. With the game on her mind, the day seemed to be dragging on. Finally, the final bell rang and it was time to go home. The game was starting at seven but her dad told her to be ready by four in order to explore the city beforehand. They got in the car, and were on their way to best city in the world, Philadelphia.

Not only was this Julia’s first flyers game, but it was her first time in Philadelphia as well! They drove to get the best dinner they could think of in Philly, cheesesteaks! After finding parking on the street, they walked to Pat’s and Julia swears to this day that, that was the best cheesesteak she’s ever had! The line wasn’t that long but it felt like forever waiting in it! When they got their food, they ate on the tables outside and talked until they decided they had nothing left to say to each other. With full stomachs and excited minds, they were on their way to the stadium. There were lots of cars which meant lots of traffic and although her dad did not seem to pleased with it, Julia loved the atmosphere- crowds of people swarming around the parking lot, everyone eager to get into their seats and watch the game. The Flyers were playing Minnesota Wild- a team that had about the same skill level that they did at the Wells Fargo Center. No matter, there was no doubt in Julia’s mind who would end up winning the game! After the second period, the Flyers were up by two and the whole stadium was on their toes going into the third. Her and her father were on their feet this whole time cheering them on, never once showing signs of getting tired. When the last period had started, the fans were going insane! Endless amounts of chants were said and it must’ve worked for at the end of the game, the Flyers had won 6-2! Julia and her dad started jumping in excitement and screaming as loud as they could when they had won. This game was a gateway for Julia and her love for this team. She would remember this game with her father for the rest of her life.
