Summer. 1985. The sky is clear and the sun is bright. It's a perfect day to go out on the water. The summer residents of Buttonwood beach live their vacation time with great freedom. Riding in golf carts, driving around the park and visiting friends and family in the other trailers. Hitching up their boats to their trucks, all of varying sizes, shapes, and purposes and letting them into the water with great precision and teamwork on the boat launches. But the greatest part was the time spent just having fun. Thats what my mom did. With her two older sisters and younger brother, days were spent swimming in the warm shine of the sun and laughing around the safety and protection of a bonfire at night. My mom said the best part was just,"enjoying being a kid." She said her Nan-Nan would watch her and her siblings along with her friends play and just have fun. She is grateful for growing up in a place that was so fun and allowed for so much freedom.
