I Interviewed my mom on how her day was like on 9/11. I knew it would be an interesting story because it was the same day, she had citizenship ceremony. During the events of 9/11, my mother was in San Francisco and there was lot of chaos because of the speculation on the fourth plane crashing there. Luckily for everyone the fourth plane was diverted by some brave passengers and it didn't hit any major landmarks.

It was 5 AM and she was sleep deprived. She had barely got any sleep that night because of all the crying. Her 2-month-old baby was very high maintenance. She had to catch a train from Fremont to San-Francisco for her citizenship ceremony. Upon boarding the train her friend Andrea called her.

“Hi Andrea, what’s up?” My mom said.

“did you hear about what happened?” asked Andrea.

“what happened?” my mom asked.

“I’m watching the news and a plane had just crashed into the twin towers.

“WHAT!?” she yelled out.

She looked around her and to see everyone else’s reaction on this matter, but they were all looking into their newspapers.

“are you sure you aren’t watching a recording “my mom asked.

“no, it’s live!” said Andrea.

Soon after her conversation with Andrea. She called her husband and told him what happened. He was shocked and told her to check if her ceremony got canceled. The only way of checking was to go there and find out herself. After walking out of the station, she noticed that people began to gather and talk. Despite this incident happening on the other side of the country people were still concerned. Once in the hall she found out from people around her that a second plane had hit the towers. The worry and fear in the hall increased but despite everything going on the ceremony still went on. Everyone was nervous fidgety for the entire duration. the solemn nature of the ceremony had been lost due the the events of 9/11. However not a word about the terrorists attacks we spoken about by the ceremony moderators. People attending the ceremony were voicing their concerns between themselves but It was only referenced by the moderators when the ceremony had to be cut short due to “certain circumstances”.

After the ceremony there was more knowledge available to the public regarding the attacks. They now knew that 3 planes had crashed, and that there was a fourth plane missing. People on streets of San Francisco had begun to panic because it was speculated that the fourth plane was going to crash in San Francisco. People were already fleeing due to all the chaos happening around the country.
