YuYang has been to US for 2 years, last time came back home was 4 months ago. Relationship status: having a girlfriend back in China.
Yuyang and his girlfriend have known each other for 10 years but only been together for a year: they had always been just childhood friends. But last summer during his visit back home, he finally maned up and asked her to be his girlfriend. She said yes.
But after only 2 weeks together, Yuyang had to go back to US continuing school. Facing this cross-country long distance relationship, the only way they connecting is talking on Skype and get to see each other every six months for about 1 week's time together. Luckily, so far they are doing just fine.
I think she started noticing by then. It's hard not to--the fact that I yawn a little too much while we speak. It's all the stupid time difference, exactly 12 hours, exactly her day verses my night.

Everyday I get up early to catch up with her before she goes to bed, and stay up late to wait for her waking up, then there are classes and other stuffs in between. She does the same for me too. Days and days go by like this, me and my earphones always on. Being in this unfamiliar world surrounded by strangers, sometimes it really feels like drowning, but this, this thin, little, magical string connecting me and her, across thousands of thousands miles distance and 12 hours' time, is what anchors me, keeps me going and makes me feel that how lucky I am actually, even if she's not around, not too many people have things like this.

Anyway she started noticing how tired I sounded, although I tried very hard to be energetic, which made me sounded even more worn out. So one day, " I read this story and I really like it," she said, " do you want to hear it? May help you sleep."
I said sure.

So she started reading, it's a story about this writer goes to a small grocery store and smells all the delicious fruits. There are apple, orange, banana, lemon, and many other kinds I couldn't remember-- I didn't really understand what's so good about writing about the smells of fruits, to be honest. But I did fall asleep, listen to her voice telling all the subtle differences between the smells of fruits, such a sweet, soft voice, was like guiding me home.

The truth is I had a really bad day that day and I was really beaten, but I didn't tell her. The amazing thing was? When I woke up the next day, all the things happened to me didn't seem so bad anymore.
