The following information has been provided by Psychiatrist Dr. Sebastian D’Souza. The day is a Saturday at the Palm restaurant at Nariman Point, Mumbai. The occasion of the memory is the time when Dr. D’Souza is going to purpose to her long-time girlfriend Anne.

My legs won’t stop shaking. As my dad used to say a little liquid courage can help a lot, so I took a few glasses of scotch just hours before popping the question to Anne. I never felt so scared.

I had been dating Anne for 9 years, we worked in the same building, and in fact had the same friends. I always knew that I was the luckiest guy in the world considering she’s too good for me.

We arrived at The Palm for dinner on a Saturday night. I had to pay the guy $40 just to get a reservation that day.

“I can’t wait for a glass of wine” said Anne as she put on her eyeliner “it’s been such a hard week, especially when my boss decided to drop by unexpectedly and wanted me to plan his wife’s surprise birthday party… God, I hate surprises”

“Ya, me too” I said with minimal enthusiasm.

“why are you sweating?” Anne asked me

“Who me?... I am not sweating. Why do you think I am sweating?” I said as quickly as I could with my eyes wide open.

“Ok” she said, looking at me as I acted like a crazy person.

Just seconds after, a waiter escorted us from the lounge outside to our table near the aquarium where the we could see the city skyline lighting up our evening.

At the beginning of the dinner itself,

Anne said “Let’s make a pact, we will never talk about work when we are having dinner”

I agreed laughingly.

“if we don’t talk about work, what else would we have to talk about? “I say.

“That’s true.” She said

Later on, I order the Mexican bruschetta and Mashi with kalihari sauce for both of us.

My plan was quite simple, there was supposed to be a game of charades in the restaurant that night, I had already spoken to the manager of the restaurant and the host to game, Mr. Regal to makes me and Anne volunteers.

So midway through our dinner, the game starts and Mr. Regal picks me and Anne. I volunteered to go first, it was then he hands me the ring without Anne noticing. The crowd watches us.

I start with my actions and

It took approximately a good 25 minutes before Anne could figure out the first word with the crowd watching me going nuts on stage.

“Just do it now!!” said Mr. Regal after having a few laughs himself.

“Do what? “said Anne

And then I drop down on one knee, with the tiffany box in my hand as I watch Anne gasping for her breath in excitement. I could see her cry a bit, but Mr. Regal calmed her down and brings her back to me.

“Anne Rosie O’Donnell, will you be my wife?” I said

“Yes.” She screamed before jumping into my arms.
